Pastor's Page

Hello,

My name is Kyle Sheeley. I have had the privilege and honor of being the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Indian River City since August of 2013. Let me tell you a bit about myself.

I grew up in a little place called Bay Lake, Florida in Lake County where my dad is currently the Pastor of Bay Lake Missionary Baptist Church, and has been since 1999.  I was brought up in Church, worked in the youth programs, sang in the choir, the whole kit and caboodle.  I made a profession of faith in 1995 while my dad pastored in Omaha, NE., not because I understood salvation, but because I was afraid my dad's job was riding on the fact...... let’s fast forward a little.....

In March of 2010 we had our yearly Men's Retreat at the Florida Baptist Encampment, where the men from our sister churches get together for fun, food, fellowship, good preaching and singing. During the Friday night sermon (March 19th) I fell under conviction that I wasn't saved. "Me???" "How could that be???" These questions filled my mind as I struggled to justify myself before the Holy Spirit. I had been involved in so much. I was currently a youth pastor under Pastor Jim Hubbard (Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church) at the time. After several minutes, what seemed like an eternity, I asked the Lord to forgive me of my sins and to come into my heart to be my Savior.  I have never been the same since.

I had the privilege of meeting my wife to be, Mary, in 2006, at the Florida Baptist Youth Encampment.  She accepted the Lord as a young lady at Capitol Heights Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida under Pastor T.D. Terry.  We were married in 2008 and in December of 2010 we were blessed with our son Sean.

The most important thing in your life that you will decide is "What will I do with Jesus?" The Bible tells us in Hebrews 9:27 "And it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgement:"

When we stand before the Righteous Judge and he asks us "Why should I let you in?" If our answer is anything other than "Because I accepted Jesus as my Savior!" Then our eternal sentence will be HELL.

Matthew 25:41"Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"

Accepting Jesus is as simple as ABC:

"A" stands for Admit. A person must admit to God that he/she is a sinner. He/she must be sorry for his/her sin. Verses that support this step are Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Acts 3:19; and 1 John 1:9.

"B" stands for Believe. A person must believe that Jesus is God's Son and that God sent Jesus to pay the penalty for sin. Verses about believing include John 3:16; John 14:6; and Romans 5:8.

"C" stands for Confess. A person must confess his/her faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Read Romans 10:9-10, 13.

That is our mission and goal here at FBCIRC. To tell everyone we can about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and then to teach them to tell others. If you don't have a home church I encourage you to come check us out. May God bless you and my prayer is that you know Jesus as Savior.

 In His Service,

 Pastor Kyle Sheeley
